Tonight two of my students made pupusas and instead of having class we sat at some picnic tables in the park and ate them and chatted. I found out that four of my students speak a language called Otomi at home and that they only learned Spanish when they were about seven years old. So they’re learning their third language. Another student is competing in the regional latino soccer association championship this weekend. Another student knows all about computers and was on the way to getting some kind of certificate here in the US when she got pregnant. You never know what hidden talents people have sometimes. I love my Literacy Council class.
